The Crows Are Gone Again

The crows are gone again….

No doubt the thought was triggered by a random cascade of chemicals reactions in my brain, initiated by sound of the trash trucks groaning down the street this morning.

The crows used to swarm the neighborhood, especially on trash day.   They were loud and aggressive, trying to get the lids off the trash cans before the garbage trucks could deprive them of breakfast.

Then one day about 10 years ago, the crows were gone.

A virus went through Southern California and seemed to wipe them out.

Years later the crows returned in small numbers; only around trash day and again they were noisy and aggressive.

Then the city provided standardized trash cans with heavy lids.

And the crows have been gone since.

Sans Crows
Sans Crows
